Reto is originally from Switzerland but has lived in countries with access to the sea for almost his whole adult life. After working on dive boats and resorts as guide, instructor or cruise director in Australia, Turkey, Thailand, Greece and Egypt and obtaining an English university degree in marine environmental science, he has landed in Indonesia in 2005 – and never left. He was project manager during Adelaar’s refit between 2009 and 2011 – and Adelaar’s cruise manager until 2014. The next six years he was working for different Indonesian Liveaboard operators in functions ranging from cruise director to general director. He rejoined Adelaar in late 2020. He knows the vessel by heart and the fact that he lead trips all over Indonesia make him an expert in his field and the man to lead Adelaar towards new horizons.
